Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable biostimulator made with poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible ingredient that’s been used in medical applications for decades.

Over time, your body gradually absorbs those particles while continuing to generate new collagen in their place. This is why results emerge slowly and why they look so natural.

It works beautifully for both men and women experiencing moderate to significant volume loss who prefer gradual results that friends and colleagues can’t quite put their finger on.

Your Sculptra experience at Spa Medical starts with a thorough consultation where we carefully evaluate your facial structure, discuss your concerns and map out a personalized treatment plan. Most patients achieve their best results through a series of three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart, allowing collagen to build progressively and naturally between appointments.
On treatment day, the injections are well-tolerated and relatively quick. We use a diluted solution of Sculptra along with lidocaine to keep you as comfortable as possible throughout the process. You may notice some mild swelling or bruising at the injection sites, but most patients return to their normal routines right away.
Sculptra patients are typically instructed to massage the treated area for several minutes a day during the week following their session. This simple routine helps distribute the product evenly and supports the best possible results.
Patience pays off with Sculptra. Unlike traditional fillers, you won’t walk out of your appointment with immediate results. Instead, results develop gradually over the weeks following each session. The change is subtle enough that people notice you looking better without being able to identify exactly why. You’ll look refreshed rather than treated.
Most patients see their full results emerge over three to six months following their final session, with improvements that can last 18 to 24 months. As the PLLA microparticles are absorbed, the collagen they stimulated remains, giving you long-term structural improvements that hold up well over time.
Sculptra requires little to no downtime. Swelling and redness at injection sites are common in the first 24 to 48 hours and generally resolve quickly. Some patients experience mild bruising, which can be minimized by avoiding blood-thinning supplements like fish oil, aspirin and vitamin E for about a week before your appointment.
Heavier activities like aerobic exercise should be avoided for 24 hours post-treatment. Beyond that, most patients are back to their regular schedules the same day.
Sculptra works extremely well as part of a comprehensive treatment plan. Because it addresses volume and collagen loss at the structural level, it complements a range of additional treatments.
