Do facial spider veins make you self-conscious?

Prominent facial spider veins are something none of us want, so when they appear, they can make us insecure about our appearance. But you don’t have to cover up these veins with makeup any longer. Take control of your facial spider veins with Spa Medical’s help.

How Do Facial Spider Veins Form?

Facial spider veins have similarities in how they appear, usually because of a dilated blood vessel too close to the skin’s surface. There are many common causes, including:

  • Genetics
  • UV Ray exposure
  • Smoking
  • Hormones (including birth control pills)
  • Hormone Replacement Therapy
  • Trauma

What are My Treatment Options?

Unlike leg veins, the gold standard treatment for facial veins is laser therapy. The Excel® V+Laser system is specifically designed to address these types of veins. Its dual wavelengths (532nm and 1064 nm) can handle just about any vascular condition, including facial and spider veins. Pulses of light energy target the affected veins to coagulate the blood within, damaging the vessel and leading to eventual vascular death. The body reabsorbs the vein and redirects your blood supply deeper below the skin’s surface, where it belongs.

Spa Medical has 4 providers who hold a Laser Practitioner license from the state of GA medical board which is not only a requirement to operate a vascular laser but also ensures expertise and safety with your treatment.

What Results Will I See?*

Each patient’s vascular condition is unique, so some patients only require a single session, but it’s more common to need two, or sometimes three treatments. Significant improvement is most often reported within 2-4 weeks of treatment. Patients report that the veins disappear, leaving behind unblemished skin. There’s no concern the treated veins will return but should new veins form, additional treatment will take care of them.

Is There Any Downtime?

The treatment uses heat energy to close the veins.  You may experience redness or swelling but it subsides within a few hours or days. A quick return to normal activity is common, though avoiding sunlight is wise.

At Spa Medical, we want to give you the tools and information you need to properly treat any vascular concerns you may have. Terri Harper, MSN, FNP-C, Spa Medical’s owner and clinical director, began her career specializing in vein health, and she’s dedicated to providing the latest technologies to bring you all you need to treat your vascular condition.
