After finishing your initial series of treatments, keeping your results fresh for as long as possible requires a multi-faceted approach. The good news is that you may already be practicing many of these steps as part of your normal skincare routine. For example, Laser Genesis patients should always apply sun protection and use gentle skincare products to keep the skin moisturized and fortified against environmental stressors.

The sun protection component is especially important immediately following your Laser Genesis treatment sessions, as your skin will be more sensitive to UV damage during this time. Broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher on a daily basis is a non-negotiable. Avoid harsh exfoliants for the first week or two (depending on skin response and provider input) after treatment, focusing instead on hydrating serums and gentler moisturizers.

Can Laser Genesis be combined with other treatments?

How Laser Genesis Works

Using the 1064 handpiece on the Excel V® device, Laser Genesis gently heats the dermis located beneath the skin’s surface. This heating of the dermis helps to stimulate collagen growth to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, reduce oil production, diminish redness and sun damage, and improve overall skin tone and texture.

What is the treatment like?

Laser Genesis is a non-invasive procedure that most patients report as painless. Treatment is often described as feeling like you’re lying in the warm sun on a hot day. Treatments are quick and can be accommodated to fit within your lunch break! You can return to work immediately after treatment – there’s no downtime!

What to expect immediately after treatment

Right after your Laser Genesis session, you may notice some slight redness or warmth in the treated areas, similar to the flush you’d experience after spending time in the sun. This common response typically fades within a few hours, and most patients return to their normal activities immediately. You can even apply makeup right after treatment if you need to head back to work or meet a friend for a lunch date.

How many treatments will I need?

As with most aesthetic procedures, full results can best be achieved with a series of treatments. We recommend a series of 6 treatments spaced about a month apart. Each patient is different but you may begin to experience results after your initial treatment with peak results seen towards the end of your series completion. Once results take effect, you should notice smoother skin, glowing skin tone, and a more youthful complexion!
